I make figurative paintings that convey the various experiences and perspectives of my neighbors, family, and friends in the Adirondack Park. The title I have used in several recent solo exhibitions is Narrative Paintings: Rural Voices Rising. Many of us living in rural areas are becoming influencers as we engage in dialog that advocates for greater diversity and inclusion. We see solutions through common ground, and we know how to talk with each other in ways that foster dialog. Ultimately, we hope to change minds. This is the meaning of my work.

These are not paintings of a photograph; instead, I use numerous photographic references and layered projections, and the composition builds perceptually. I use light to deconstruct spaces, and while painting I focus on the material quality of lumpy, grog-like paint continuing to add or subtract excess information.
